![]() I spent the first weekend of July in bed. But not with sexy results. I was sick from either food poisoning, the flu, or AIDS. I threw up multiple times and was prevented from going on a trip to Calgary with Mike. As I regained strength I attended a Rider game (they lost to Calgary). This 'Rider Pride' I hear so much about was replaced by lots of boozy screaming. And the '13th man' was a guy in the back row straight out of the trailer park (wife beater and all) banging on anything within his grasp. He alternated between cheering for the Riders and making obscene threats if they failed him.
Meanwhile, Lil' Mikey was having fun on a 'Club Crawl' hopping from bar to bar in Calgary. Sorry you had to go without your wingman, Mikey. I did enough throwing up that weekend without the addition of alcohol!
My only activity on Sunday was taking behind the scenes pics and video for the short film 'Shuya Show'. More production pictures can also be seen here, here and here! Jon, Jason and Dave hope to have the film done in the fall. I can't wait! As for the weekend's shoot, it involved a golden shower, a malfunctioning gun, and a sexy 'woman'...
Meanwhile, over in Japan, Dave was enjoying a 'long distance Canada Day'. He went to a beer garden, and even found himself some Labatt beer, which is apparently considered good when you are that far from home. Below are some highlights of Dave's July celebration, including a very drunk asian man that may or may not be Dave. I don't remember what he looks like drunk, so your guess is as good as mine!
By mid-July I was healthy again so I drove up to Calgary with Mike 'Roadtrip every weekend' Knoblauch. We didn't party TOO hard but we did have a good time. On Friday we bought cowboy hats from a truly weird girl (was she kidding when she said her dad would 'beat her with a pink cowboy hat'?). Also, Mike had some freaky banking issues (Muslim Relief fund?!), and we took in the Stampede and the Our Lady Peace concert.
On Saturday we went to Superman Returns at IMAX (in 3D). I was exicted, but turns out only 15 minutes were in 3D. They were good, but not enough! I need more 3D in my life....as opposed to...shut up. We also met up with dear Alison and watched her finacee Leif and his band Geronimo perform a kick ass show at the Hi-Fi Club!
The true highlight of the weekend had to be a nice 'coffee and pie' at a weird truckstop in Calgary with the illustrious Darren John Hamilton. A good time was had by all, but no pictures were taken, since we agreed that no pictures could have done the event justice. The weekend was rounded off by the traditional Phil's breakfast (beef chubbies!) with Jeff "still employed at A-Channel" Hodgson. After that, it was back home to Regina.
As July came to a close, we were assaulted by the birthdays of Erin (and her twin brother Chris) and Jason Shabatoski. We did not take pictures of Jason's birthday due to legal issues, but we do have a few for Erin. Mike and Adrian made her a cake with a stuffed animal baked in the middle. They were originally going to film the making of the cake then put the DVD inside the cake itself. That brillant plan was scrapped for various reasons, though they did screen a DVD of the 'cake making' for Erin before giving her presents and said cake.
Also, in a shocking turn of events, Erin (clearly drunk on power) unveiled her five tier strategy to create a string of sequels for 'Doomed' starring Brennan Berryman (Doomed) and John Corbett (Northern Exposure, My Big Fat Greek Wedding). She has already begun marketing said films. SEE YOU NEXT MONTH! |
