October 2006

October has come and gone. Thanksgiving was a wacky weekend. I was in the hospital for intense chest pains one day then eating turkey and watching the Rolling Stones the next. T'was a very good show...better than I expected. Those old guys can moooove!

By mid October we were celebrating my dad's birthday and my parent's wedding anniversary (on the same day, very smooth of you Ed). While dining at the Freehouse, Leif showed us that one of the desserts on the menu is named after Alison. Creepy or delicious? You be the judge!

CELEBRATING BIRTHDAYS & ANNIVERSARIES

I attended two very different presentations by celebrities this month. First, Scott Thompson (Kids in the Hall) performed an amazing one man show at the Exchange where he used power point presentations mixed with conventional stand up to explain how everything catastrophic that has happened in the last 5 years was an attempt to sabotage his happiness (including 9/11). Funny at times and moving at others. Scottastrophe! A week later, director Oliver Stone was in town barking at us all. I found him to be interesting but intimidating as well. Why can't he just cheer up and quit blaming me for presidential assassinations? I'm INNOCENT!

SCOTT THOMPSON VISITS REGINS (MIDDLE), OLIVER STONE LECTURES AT THE U of R

Hallowe'en weekend was spent attending the symphony (a performance of the 1922 film Nosferatu), then having a few drinks & dances at O'Hanlons. It was a good time. Costumes were a mix of impressive / depressing / odd...I feel my Superman costume (made to fit 9 year olds) belongs somewhere in between.

A SPOOKY NIGHT IN REGINA. BOO!

That's it. Hope you had a fun and exciting October. I predict snow within 24 hours of you reading this blog...see you next month!
